• Ksar d'Aït-Ben-Haddou - Ouarzazate

Ouarzazate

Ouarzazate is located in an arid region which extends from the ridges of the High Atlas towards the south to the borders of the Sahara. The dwellings exist only in the valleys, mainly those of Dades and Drâa. . Sunny all year round, this city is regularly used as a site for film productions. Several cult films such as Gladiator, Laurence of Arabia, Babel, or even Asterix, Mission Cleopatra were filmed there, transforming the city into a real Moroccan Hollywood. But beyond the film studios, Ouarzazate is home to several historical sites: many Kasbahs, green valleys and surrounding palm groves.

The Kasbah of Taourirt
This Kasbah is one of the very first Berber constructions. It looks like a sand castle with its high walls and crenellated towers. Overlooking the medina of Ouarzazate, it is possible to visit the richly decorated interior once inhabited by a high dignitary of Morocco.

The Tizi-n-Tichka
The Tizi-n-Tichka road links Marrakech to Ouarzazate over a distance of approximately 200 km. In the car, the landscapes pass by and are not alike. We pass successively from snow-capped peaks to green plains, oases and small Berber villages nestled in the hollow of the mountains.
